Kratovo is one of the most atmospheric small towns in the country: stone houses climb the steep sides of a deep basin, medieval towers stand guard and little arched stone bridges cross the river in the centre. It was an important mining town for centuries. Our advice: wander slowly from bridge to bridge and stop for coffee by the river.
