Mosque·Old Bazaar

Built in 1475–76

About Isa Bey Mosque

According to the inscription above its door, the Isa Bey Mosque was built in 1475–76 for Isa Bey, son of Ishak Bey, and completed after his death following his instructions. It was the centre of a complex with a school, a soup kitchen and a manuscript library. The minaret fell in the 1963 earthquake and was rebuilt. Our advice: visit outside prayer times, dress modestly and remove your shoes.
