Kozjak Lake

Lake·Treska valley (30 km)

The country’s largest reservoir

About Kozjak Lake

Kozjak is the country’s largest artificial lake, about 32 km long, created in 2003–04 when the Treska was dammed upstream of Matka. Its steep, wooded shores feel remote, though it lies only about 30 km from the centre of Skopje. Our advice: go with a local guide or boat operator; there is no road linking both shores.

Why it's on our list

  • Wild lake scenery
  • Steep wooded shores
  • Beyond Matka

Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Kozjak Lake before you go.
